Mother’s Day

Dear Church Family,

As we approach Mother’s Day this March, my heart is drawn to the beauty and weight of motherhood as Scripture reveals it. The Bible consistently shows us that motherhood is not merely biological—it is a calling, a stewardship, and a reflection of God’s nurturing heart. From Eve, the “mother of all living,” to Mary, who carried the Saviour Himself, we see that motherhood is woven into God’s redemptive story. It is a sacred trust, a divine invitation to shape lives that ultimately belong to Him. As Psalm 24:1 reminds us, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.” Our children are His before they are ours, and He entrusts them to us with purpose.

Many of you know parts of my story, but I want to share it again because it is a testimony of God’s faithfulness. I longed for my son, Andrei, with all my heart, yet complications made natural conception impossible. Through IVF, God opened a door, and Andrei became my miracle. But soon after, my marriage fell apart, and I found myself facing motherhood alone. Fear whispered that I wouldn’t make it, that I had no one to help me raise my son. Those worries consumed me, until God called me back. I still remember the day I walked back into church after being away, pushing the pram, the room fell silent, eyes turned toward me, but instead of shame, I felt something I desperately needed: I felt home.

As I kept coming, hungry to know Jesus and His will for my life, the Holy Spirit began to heal what I thought was beyond repair. God showed me that He had seen every sleepless night, every silent prayer, every cry for help. He reminded me that He is “a Father to the fatherless,” and He proved it by sending people like my Auntie Janet, who has been there since day one to walk with me. I learned that family is not only blood, but true family is also united in spirit, loving and following Jesus together. And in that truth, the enemy’s lie that I was alone, lost its grip. Jesus found me when I was lost, and He placed me in a family no one can take away.

This Mother’s Day, I want every mother and every father who carries both roles to know this: being a parent is a blessing and a calling rooted in Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. You are never alone, for God has promised, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). You are your child’s first teacher. What will you teach them? the ways of the world, or the ways of God’s Kingdom? Love them as Jesus would love them. Nurture them as the Holy Spirit nurtures us. And remember, the only thing we truly take with us into eternity are the souls entrusted to our care. Let us steward them well, with grace, courage, and unwavering faith in the One who walks with us every step of the way.

Many blessings and Happy Mother’s Day to you all,

Pastor Mylar (Assistant Pastor)
